SUSTAINABILITY
Most of our products are made from 100% organic cotton, although we also have some products that combine 100% organic cotton with recycled polyester.
There is a huge difference between conventional cotton and organic cotton.
PURITY
The purity of cotton fibers is measured by the way the cotton has been picked (by hand or machine).
Organic cotton is harvested entirely by hand , preserving the purity of each fiber and ensuring that no fiber is damaged in the process.
Conventional cotton, however, is harvested by machine to save time and meet high demand. Organic cotton garments have a softer touch than conventional cotton garments since the fibers are longer. The fact of collecting them by hand means that these fibers do not weaken or break, resulting in softer and more durable garments.
SEEDS
Conventional cotton often uses genetically modified seeds . This is done to make crops resistant to pests, but when the insects become stronger, more pesticides need to be used .
Organic cotton has been grown with natural seeds, and no pesticides or other harmful chemicals are used for cultivation . Pests are controlled with the use of other insects that kill them. As a result, organic cotton is presented as a healthier alternative for the skin.
CROP
Conventional cotton cultivation is carried out on the same land over and over again, degrading its quality, eliminating nutrients , leading to the growth of unhealthy shoots. Since they are not healthy, these cotton buds need more water, so they are watered massively, which results in a huge waste of water.
The organic cotton is rotated through different fields , in this way the nutrients are preserved in the soil for longer, which will make the sprouts grow strong from the beginning.
PRODUCTION
Conventional cotton processing uses large amounts of chemicals . The use of heavy metals and chemical dyes is very familiar in the conventional cotton industry. Even after washing the finished product, the residue left by these chemicals lingers on the garment and can cause skin reactions.
However, organic cotton uses other alternatives to chemical dyes and bleaches. There are natural and water-based dyes , as well as bleaching peroxide, that are used in the manufacture of organic cotton garments.
- 26% less likely to have soil erosion
- 46% less impact on global warming
- 70% less acidification of water and soils
- 91% less groundwater consumption
We use polyester to add stability to the hoodies. We exclusively use recycled polyester from used PET bottles.
There is no doubt that the fight against plastic waste has become one of the greatest environmental challenges of our times: globally, about 9.5 million tons of this material are dumped into the oceans annually, mostly single-use plastics.
Recycled polyester allows us to save a considerable amount of energy during the manufacturing process compared to non-recycled polyester. As with organic cotton, we aim to establish full traceability of our recycled polyester, including the provenance of PET bottles. Otherwise, these bottles, which mostly come from China, would end up in a landfill or in our oceans.
Process:
- The PET bottles are cleaned and cut into pieces.
- These pieces are then transformed into pellets which, later, through a blowing process, become polyester fibre.
- Polyester fiber is woven to form a thread with which durable and breathable fabrics will be made.
Our products are manufactured in India and, to a lesser extent, in Turkey. India is the country where most of the 100% organic cotton on the planet is grown. We only manufacture in countries where organic cotton is grown and, in this way, we prevent the raw material from traveling unnecessary kilometers.
Yes, all our products are approved by the PETA certificate.
CAREFUL
MINIMIZE THE USE OF THE WASHING MACHINE, SO YOU WILL LONGER THE LIFE OF YOUR GARMENTS.
In general, we recommend that you air your clothes outside, but if you have to wash, use low temperatures and short washing cycles.
Always try to use powder detergent as it is less polluting and less harmful to your clothes.
